Microlight aircraft makes emergency landing on Birkdale beach

A MICROLIGHT aircraft made an emergency landing on the beach near Weld Road in Birkdale.

Firefighters were called at 3.29pm and arrived at the scene at 3.40pm. The pilot, who was travelling with a child, is believed to be safe and well.

The poliot noticed there was a difference in temperature between one side of the craft and the other and decided to make a precautionary landing. Nobody else was injured.

The pilot has checked his aircraft and was able to take off again.
