MERSEYRAIL is planning to get rid of station supervisors in an overhaul of how interchanges are run.
They are proposing a reorganisation of station manage-ment which could see around 25 staff reshuffled into new positions.
Existing station managers could be moved into customer service and duty manager roles in a move Merseyrail claimed will improve customer service.
Staff were told of the management restructuring last week and union bosses are due to meet with Merseyrail later this week to talk over the proposals.
Andy Warnock-Smith, of the RMT union, said: “We will consult with Merseyrail over the reorganisation of station management and senior management.
“The company has given guarantees there will be no compulsory redundancies and, although staff will be displaced, salaries will be protected.
“It is too premature to make any threats of industrial action until we hold these talks and meet with our members.”
But a concerned station supervisor who contacted the Daily Post said the proposals left morale at rock bottom, with many staff feeling the move was a backward step.
