Buskers set to hit the streets of Liverpool

FROM Gerry and the Pacemakers to Echo and the Bunnymen and the Fab Four, Liverpool has long been known for its talented musicians.

Now Liverpool One is offering talented buskers and would-be musicians the chance to showcase their talents.

Auditions will be held tomorrow and Friday for all music styles from classical and jazz to pop and indie.

Thomas Spencer- Wortley, who is being hailed as a young Andrea Bocelli, will kick-start the auditions with a busking session at 1pm tomorrow.

Thomas is visiting the city as part of his mission to tour the UK bringing classical music to the masses.

Busking for Success will see Thomas perform with his all-female string quartet at shopping centres across the country.

He hopes to fulfil his 80-year-old grandmother’s dream of seeing him perform at the Royal Albert Hall.

Chris Bliss, Liverpool One estate director, said: “Liverpool is filled with talent and we’re looking to harness the musical skills of the city whilst welcoming visitors.”

Audition places can be booked on 0151 232 3128 with a judging panel.
