Manchester United FC shocked by fan’s Hillsborough slur

MANCHESTER United Football Club have branded the decision by one of their supporters to have a shirt printed with a Hillsborough slur on the back a “disgrace”.

Fan Colm Jackson boasted on social networking group Facebook about buying the shirt which was purchased at Sports Direct in the Arndale Centre, in Manchester.

Head of communications for Man Utd, Philip Townsend, said: “We have checked our systems and Colm Jackson is not a season ticket holder.

“If he had been, we would have revoked his season ticket.

“What was printed on the back of the shirt is disgraceful.

“A true Manchester United fan would not share his views.”

The picture of the offensive shirt and Jackson’s Facebook page were removed from Facebook after a group called “Get Colm Jackson off Facebook” was launched and they were made aware of it.

Jackson’s brother, Graham, also asked Facebook to remove the picture. He said: “Myself and my family are massive United fans. As football fans, we have always supported the Hillsborough families’ fight for justice.

“We are horrified at the stupidity of my brother’s actions. When I saw the shirt I took it off him and destroyed it immediately. It has never been worn outside. I don’t know what he was thinking.”
