LIVERPOOL Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Jack Stopforth described Merseyrail as “one of Liverpool’s fantastic success stories”.
He added: “The job they do, especially for the big events like the Aintree Grand National, is just brilliant.
“They are a real asset to the city region.”
Mr Stopforth said: “Not many people are aware of the extent of the network which Merseyrail runs. For example, they operate the biggest underground service outside London.”
