TWO rare Liverpool FC number plates are set to spark a bidding war and raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for children.
Liverpool football fanatic and hair and beauty entrepreneur Sal Adams bought F9 LFC two years ago, representing Fernando Torres’ number 9 shirt and E1 LFC, standing for England’s number one.
The 27-year-old marks Ramadan, the holiest month in the Muslim calendar, with a charitable act each year and all money raised from the auction of his beloved plates will go to UNICEF and children’s charities.
With expressions of interest in the Torres plate alone already passing £70,000 the rare sale is set to be a windfall for youngsters in Africa.
Mr Adams said: “I’m wondering will there be interest from Fernando himself, but if not it would be fantastic if he could hand the plate over to the winning bidder. Maybe Robbie Fowler might consider a bid because it works for him too.
“You definitely turn heads with it. I went to Paris recently and people were taking photos of it, and people often assume it’s Fernando driving the car.
“The plate was on a Porsche GT3 RS for two years, and E1 LFC was on the company Mercedes Benz.
Mr Adams added: “This year I wanted to do something a bit special, I’m a huge Liverpool fan, a corporate season ticket holder and I’m a massive supporter of UNICEF. Africa’s a continent that needs stability and a lot of love so the work they do is incredible.”
