FORMER Coronation Street star Sean Wilson is expected to be promoting his new venture at Wirral’s Food and Drink Festival this weekend.

Sean – who played Martin Platt in the popular soap – will be bringing his award-winning cheeses to the festival which promotes local produce.

The Cheese Shop, Chester, will be hosting his new line of cheeses and Sean will be on hand to tell people about his new venture, on the second and final day of the festival, Monday August 31.

He has set up the Saddleworth Cheese Company creating four cheeses, three of which have already won awards at the British Cheese Awards this year.

They are Muldoons Picnic, a Lancashire crumbly; Shanks Pony, a Lancashire creamy; How's Yer Father, a Lancashire Tasty and Smelly Apeth, a specially formulated medium soft blue.

Carole Faulkner, owner of the Cheese Shop, said: “We aim to promote local producers from the North West. We have a great variety of cheeses as the area is rich in good produce.”

Thousands are expected to flock to the Wirral Food and Drink Festival’s fourth year at Claremont Farm, near Bebington, on Sunday, August 30, and Monday, August 31.
