World-class artists helped me forget the rain and the mud
BEING soaked to the bone, covered in mud and fighting an icy chill didn't dampen the spirits of the crowds up at Creamfields yesterday.
It wouldn't be an August Bank Holiday without the rain.
Thankfully, the array of world-class artists on day two ensured that the rain was secondary on everybody's mind.
I kicked my day off with a bop around the Hed Kandi hospitality tent, where the ice white decor helped bring a cheeky bit of Ibiza to rain-lashed Warrington.
From there I bounced straight into Calvin Harris' afternoon set on the Main Stage where his title track Ready for the Weekend had the crowd bouncing.
After being too scared to step into the Go Dutch! Arena – which was a cacophany of blaring techno beats – I strutted through to the Cream tent where Eddie Halliwell was just beginning his 90-minute routine.
My big fear this year was that I'd feel like an old man, out of place with the teenagers and modern day glow-stick wavers.
But Halliwell's ED-IT set was Old Skool tastic, and for a few minutes there I was back in the old State on Dale Street as he dropped the tunes of my generation.
