Maghull woman raises money for shipwrecked mariners charity

A MAGHULL woman has raised nearly £1,000 for a seafarers’ charity.

The Shipwrecked Fishermen and Mariners’ Royal Benevolent Society has had a presence in Liverpool since 1840.

Catherine Johnson raised the money by running the Reading half marathon.

She said: “Many generations of my family are ex-merchant mariners. The work the Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society does is fantastic and being able to be part of that is wonderful.”
