A WORLD-RENOWNED artist ended a two-year wait to unveil a specially commissioned artwork.
Klaus Voorman, who is best known for designing The Beatles’ Revolver album, unveiled his piece at the Hard Day’s Night Hotel.
His image of the Fab Four harks back to the famous cover, featuring black and white heads of each Beatle.
In the centre are snapshots of the close friends he developed in Liverpool, including Bill Harry, creator of the newspaper Mersey Beat, who was present yesterday.
Of the artwork, Voorman said: “To me, it was natural. I wanted to try and show the inspiration of The Beatles, the people who put them on the road and started them off.
“I wanted to show them when they were young, like Georgie, when he was 14 or 15, to show people how it really started.”
More than 200 fans turned up to meet Voorman as he signed merchandise in the Beatles shop, next door to the hotel.
The picture is on display in the hotel.
