A CURIOUS cat who ended up 300 miles from his Merseyside home, after hitching a ride with a removal van, will be reunited with his three-year-old owner today.
The four-month-old kitten, called Gerrard, was playing in a neighbour’s removal van in Elm Road, Seaforth, but did not jump out before the doors were shut. He was found when the van arrived in Hampshire and taken to Seadown Veterinary Practice, where he was affectionately named Jimmy Tarbuck after the Liverpool-born comedian.
Mother-of-five Carla Hazlett, of Elm Road, said: “I got a bit of a shock when I saw him in the paper. We’ve been looking for him for days. He was my little girl’s third birthday present. I’ve not had the heart to tell her he has been missing.
“I am really glad he has been so well taken care of. When the woman next door was moving out last week, the children and Gerrard were playing in the removal truck.
“It did not cross my mind that was where he could be.”
