The 63-year-old, who currently stars in the BBC comedy Gavin and Stacey, said: “It’s an honour for me to be returning to Liverpool, not only to this great city but to support the Clapperboard Project, which aims to bring both new and existing talent together.”

Other famous faces lined up to give a talk include Rita Tushingham, Willy Russell, David Morrissey, Frank Cottrell Boyce, Neil Fitzmaurice, Christine Tremarco, Jimmy McGovern, Stephen Graham, John McArdle and Ian Hart.

Cash raised will go towards the Clapperboard Youth Project.
