Engelbert Humperdinck returns to Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall

ENGELBERT HUMPERDINCK made a welcome return to the city’s Philharmonic Hall last night.

The 73-year-old singer, real name Gerry Dorsey, known for hits including Release Me, Quando, Quando, Quando, The Last Waltz, Misty Blue and Spanish Eyes, played the venue as he nears the end of a European tour.

With sales in excess of 130m records, including 64 gold albums, 24 platinum albums, four Grammy nominations, a Golden Globe award, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Humperdinck’s unique voice and sense of humour have endeared him to millions of fans around the globe.

He has recently re-recorded all his hits, “to see if I could still do the same job I did 40 years ago, and people say it sounds better than the original.”
