A FORMER Bosnian Serb leader, convicted of war crimes against civilians, has been transferred to the UK to serve his 20-year prison sentence.
Momcilo Krajisnik was jailed for the deportation, forcible transfer and persecution of Bosnian Muslim and Croats including women, children and elderly people during the 1990s Balkan conflict.
The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague said he was sent to Britain yesterday.
In September, 2006, Krajisnik was found by the tribunal to have participated in a joint criminal enterprise - which included former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: “The UK is committed to providing practical and political support to the work of the international criminal tribunals, as part of our policy to combat impunity for the perpetrators.”
