A PILOT health project has benefited more than 1,500 people across Wirral.
Miriam and Parkfield Medical Centres, in Birkenhead and New Ferry, have led the scheme, designed to encourage patients with minor emergencies such as bites or burns to go to local centres instead of hospitals.
Patients do not need to make an appointment, and do not have to wait long to be seen and treated.
Philomena Potts, partner in Miriam Medical Centre, said: “We are receiving many referrals through GPs and pharmacies, and the numbers of patients are steadily increasing.”
