SUGGESTIONS that the decision to release Great Train Robber Ronnie Biggs was prompted by the impending release of the Lockerbie bomber were dismissed as “absurd and offensive” last night.
Tory veteran Michael Howard has written to Home Secretary Jack Straw asking him to clarify whether the releases were linked.
But a spokesman for Mr Straw said there was “no connection at all between the two cases” and dismissed the claims as “ridiculous and offensive”.
