Councillor in race row

A COUNCILLOR was suspended after making racist comments at a public meeting, it was revealed yesterday.

Leicestershire county councillor Robert Fraser was also officially reprimanded by the council’s standards sub-committee and ordered to complete “intensive equalities training”, the council confirmed yesterday.

The punishment was handed down after Mr Fraser made derogatory comments about Romanians at a public meeting.

He also remarked that some Europeans “make the Irish look like complete amateurs”.
