Crosby grandmother to take on Great North Swim for charity

A GRANDMOTHER is set to complete the Great North Swim to raise money for clean water in Uganda.

Terri Whitaker, 64, will don her goggles and wet suit to complete a mile swim across Lake Windermere.

The grandmother-of-three is taking on the challenge to raise money for Action Aid’s Uganda: Safe Water for School Children.

Terri, who lives in Waterloo, decided to take up the challenge after her son, Simon, said he was doing it.

Simon, 37, is completing the swim for another charity and his brother, James, 27, has also decided to join him.

Terri initially wanted to swim as A personal challenge, and then thought about raising money for charity.

She had been a supporter of Action Aid for many years and decided to do it for one of the charity’s projects. Her son Simon had spent weeks working with children in Uganda and encouraged her to raise money for clean water.
