Liverpool's Families Fighting for Justice group opens drop-in centre

LIVERPOOL’S Families Fighting for Justice (FFJ) group officially opened the first drop-in centre of its kind in the UK.

The group, which campaigns to change the law on murder or manslaughter, hopes the new centre will become the headquarters for similar centres across the country.

Founder Jean Taylor, a Wirral mother of two murdered children, said she hoped the centre on Seymour Street, Liverpool city centre, would strengthen their political influence in London.

Jean said: “After years of planning, we’ve finally got our centre. There is a complete lack of support and help for families hit by tragedy.

“Within the criminal justice system, there is plenty of advice and help for the criminals, but not for the victim’s family.

“The centre has a victim’s lounge and is a place families can come to talk – we’ve lost our loved ones through murder and manslaughter, so we know what they’re going through.”
