Marco Pierre White to appear at Liverpool Food and Drink Festival

HE’S known for his fiery temper and exacting standards – and Liverpool’s top chefs are hoping he’ll be more than impressed with what they have to offer.

Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White is making a surprise visit to the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival on Sunday.

The boss of Hells Kitchen is attending the event at Sefton Park to meet festival -goers and Liverpool’s restaurateurs on display.

There will be an opportunity for fans to talk food with the Michelin star- winning chef, and to have books and photographs signed.

White will be visiting the festival from 12pm to 3.30pm, where stalls featuring top chefs from across the city will be giving live demonstrations of their expertise.

Vince Margiotta, director at Il Forno and Sapporo restaurants, who are among the sponsors of the event, said: “It’s fantastic for the city that we have such a big name chef coming to the food festival.

“We have worked together with the council to make this happen, and Marco jumped at the opportunity to visit and find out about the food and drink business in the area.

“Marco’s visit to the city really is proof that the city holds its rightful place on the culinary map.”

Finishing touches are being made at Sefton Park for the city’s biggest ever food and drink festival.

Gourmet treats from more 60 top city bars and restaurants will be available for food lovers to sample.

Popular establishments including London Carriage Works, 60 Hope Street, Il Forno and Sapporo, Blakes at Hard Days Night Hotel and Delifonseca will be among some of the big city names taking part in the event.

Organisers say that they are expecting more than 35,000 visitors on the day, which runs from 10.30am-5pm.
