A VETERAN tug tender was opened up to the public for what was thought to be the country’s first Heritage Open Day afloat.
The Daniel Adamson, in Sandon Dock, off Regent Road, was available for viewing on Saturday.
Dan Cross, chairman of the Daniel Adamson Preservation Society, said: “We thought Heritage Open Days would be an ideal chance to show-case our progress.”
The society’s team of volunteers rescued the 106-year-old tug back from imminent scrapping, after being derelict for 20 years at Ellesmere Port Boat Museum.
“Danny”, which was built to carry passen-gers, is Britain’s last steam-powered tug tender, and was originally used for the Ellesmere Port to Liverpool ferry.
