Family of south Liverpool parents killed by son take legal advice over NHS carers

THE sisters of a schizophrenic who stabbed their parents to death may launch legal action against “negligent” NHS carers.

They said medics supposed to be managing Alan Scott’s condition were too busy to give him the care he needed.

Scott killed his mother Stella, 59, and father Alan Snr, 61, during a delusional episode in March last year.

But, in the days leading up to the incident, sisters Christine Scott and Colette McCormack claimed their brother twice pleaded with nurses to give him medication.

Ms Scott, 40, of Allerton, said: “The series of mistakes they made is horrific. If Alan had his medication, our parents would still be alive today.”

Scott started suffering mental health problems after experimenting with cannabis and cocaine as a teenager.

He was first sectioned and diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1994 when he was 21. He recovered but relapsed in 1997 and was sent to a mental health unit.

Medics released him, saying he was a “low risk” to society as long as he carried on taking anti-psychotic drugs.

He had monthly appointments at the Moss Centre, but missed one on March 24 last year.

The sisters said he went in three days later, but staff said they were too busy to see him and he should come back the next day.

But they claimed, when he returned, staff said he was too early and there was no-one there who could give him the injection.
