Funds for Liverpool's Marina Dalglish cancer treatment centre reach half-way milestone

MARINA DALGLISH said she was “delighted” yesterday at the progress being made on a new £17m radiotherapy centre in Liverpool.

She visited the Fazakerley building site with husband Kenny and announced her £5m charity appeal, raising funds towards the cost of the centre, had reached the half- way mark.

It will be run by Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology staff and sits next to The Walton Centre for neurology.

Marina, who was diagnosed with breast cancer herself in 2004, said: “We are delighted by the progress and are now half-way to our £5m target.

“The new centre will offer state-of-the-art facilities in Liverpool.

“The work done at Clatterbridge is second to none, but the journey is tough when you live this side of the Mersey.”
