MERSEYSIDE’S abandoned plans for a tram system were officially put back on the table today.
Yesterday, transport authority Merseytravel approved a top-secret report into the £400m-plus Line One from Liverpool to Kirkby.
The plans will now be sent to the city region’s super-cabinet for approval next month.
It is then hoped a unified Merseyside business case could be presented to the Department for Transport for funding.
The DfT has stated that the plan must have widespread support from all Merseyside councils.
