Liverpool man injured in collision with double-decker in Fazakerley

A MAN suffered head injuries after he was knocked over by a double- decker bus on a busy Merseyside road junction yesterday.

The collision happened at the junction of Walton Vale and Longmoor Lane, Fazakerley, at around 2.15pm.

It is believed the 32-year-old man stepped directly into the path of the Arriva bus, close to the Black Bull Inn. The driver of the bus – which was carrying passengers – stopped at the scene.

The impact of the collision broke the front windscreen of the vehicle.

The pedestrian was taken to nearby Aintree hospital with head injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Shocked witnesses described hearing the impact of the collision and seeing the man lying on the ground being tended to by paramedics.

Kathy Nugent, who works at Lanigans newsagents, said: “I was walking back from Tesco and just saw the man lying on the floor.

“The bus was still there and there were lots of people tending to him.”
