WORK has finally started on a new fire station on the former site of the city’s ice rink.
The project will also create 28 apartments and shops, including an Iceland, on the corner of Beech Street and Prescot Road, Kensington.
The site was once occupied by the famous Silver Blades ice skating rink.
The £9.5m scheme has been planned and funded by Kensington Regeneration in partnership with developer CTP, Liverpool council, Riverside Housing Association and Merseyside fire and rescue service.
