A WIRRAL councillor has been found dead at her home.
Police officers are believed to have forced their way into the Moreton home of Suzanne Moseley, 47, after colleagues had been unable to contact her.
Cllr Moseley had been a Conservative councillor for the Moreton West and Saughall Massie ward since 2003, having been re-elected in 2004 and 2009.
She was the local Conservative group treasurer and spokesperson on environment and sustainable communities.
Police were last night treating it as an “unexplained death” but it is understood there were no obvious signs of foul play.
A post mortem is expected to be held today when the body will also be formally identified.
Neighbours in Bradgate Close yesterday talked of their shock and sadness at the news of her death..
Theresa McGregor, who had become involved with Cllr Moseley in collecting a petition against a landfill site near their homes eight years ago, said she had seen her neighbour regularly.
She said two of the councillors’s colleagues had called at her house yesterday morning, after being unable to get in touch with her.
Ms McGregor said: “They were supposed to have been on a course with her on Tuesday and she hadn’t turned up.
“They had phoned her, and then came round here asking if they could get to the back of her house through my garden.
“They asked if I’d seen Sue and I said I hadn’t heard her.
“Then, the next thing I knew the ambulance was here. They were here for quite a while, as well as a lot of police and the forensics. I still can’t quite believe it.”
