Woolton St Francis Xavier College pupils remember Liverpool crash victim

TRIBUTES have been paid to a popular 16-year-old, killed after being knocked from his bike by a car.

Lewis Walsh, described as bright and funny by classmates at St Francis Xavier College, died of his injuries following the crash at around 10.15pm on Wednesday.

He collided with a Renault Clio on Woolton High Street, which went off the road and into a nearby shop.

Yesterday, Les Rippon, headteacher at the college, paid tribute to his pupil, saying: “The entire school is in shock following this tragic loss of young life.

“Our thoughts are with Lewis’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“He was an exceptional young man who had an extremely bright future ahead of him.

“He had done really well in his GCSEs and was planning to study medicine.

“He was a likeable, sociable and popular member of the school and the pupils have been hit very hard by this awful news.

“Staff and students held a special assembly yesterday, in which we paid tribute to Lewis and said prayers for his family and friends.

“He will be missed by many, many people.”
