Arrowe Park employees face disciplinary hearings over waiting times

TWO hospital employees face disciplinary hearings in connection with the recording of waiting times.

Wirral’s Arrowe Park Hospital was at the centre of an investigation launched in July after concerns about four-hour targets were raised by members of staff.

Two workers were suspended without prejudice by Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (WUTH) and they will now take part in disciplinary hearings in the first half of October.

They are understood to be Maria Jeffery, a manager on the A&E ward and director of nursing and midwifery Michael Monaghan.

Len Richards, chief executive of the trust, said: “The investigation has found that there were irregularities in the recording of performance towards the end of 2008/09.

“The two members of staff who were suspended without prejudice during the investigation remain as such until disciplinary hearings have taken place, probably in the first half of October.

“I should stress that suspension without prejudice is a neutral act.
