Award for Liverpool University professor

A LIVERPOOL professor has been awarded one of Veterinary Science’s most prestigious awards.

Agnes Winter, the former head of Liverpool University’s Veterinary Clinical Sciences, has been awarded the Dalrymple-Champneys Cup and Medal from the British Veterinary Association.

The award is bestowed on those who have advanced veterinary science, with Prof Winter advancing sheep health and production.

One of only five specialists in this field, she has advised the Government on sheep, cattle and pig welfare and on sheep movements during the Foot and Mouth outbreak in 2001.

As well as keeping her own flock of sheep, she has played a major role in pedigree sheep and breed promotion.
