DOZENS of people queued to welcome a Liverpool-born star back to her home town.
Tickets were sold out to hear actress Alison Steadman, from Anfield, answer questions from the audience at FACT.
The Pride and Prejudice and Gavin and Stacey star was the first to appear at what will be a series of monthly screenings for the Clapperboard Youth Project. She attended a viewing of her 1991 film, Life is Sweet, at the cinema last night.
The events celebrate the work of local actors and raise money to help the city’s young people make their own movies.
Ms Steadman said: “It was overwhelming how many people turned up.
“Lots of people who I went to school with came along to the screening, which was great because I haven’t seen them in years.
“I half expected to have more personal questions afterwards – questions like ‘Remember when we did this?’ or about places where we played as children.”
Instead, the actress, who also appeared in Abigail’s Party, Shirley Valentine and Confetti, answered questions about her career.
