Liverpool, Kirkby and Bootle schools hailed for beating the odds

FOUR Mersey schools have been saluted by the Government for beating the odds.

The quartet are among just 20 primaries across the UK deemed to have overcome challenging circumstances to chalk up at least two “outstanding” Ofsted ratings.

The Ofsted list features schools who have triumphed, despite serving communities where pupils come from poorer urban backgrounds and an above average proportion receive free school meals.

And the Merseyside four doing just that are Simonswood Primary School, in Kirkby; St Monica’s Catholic Primary School, in Bootle; Banks Road Primary School, in Garston; and St Sebastian’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery, in Kensington.
