DANCERS and musicians helped guests get into the groove to celebrate the city’s newest cultural gem.
A glitzy party was held to promote the relaunch of the city’s huge Contemporary Urban Centre, in Parliament Street.
Exotic dancers and city band Hot Club de Paris were among entertainers at last night’s event.
The building’s owners want to promote the centre which contains a 750-capacity auditorium, a cinema, galleries, a cafe and restaurants.
Despite undergoing a £16m makeover and opening in the thick of Capital of Culture year, many people in the city are seemingly unaware it exists.
The formerly derelict building was previously nicknamed the Buddleia, because so many shrubs grew through the cracks in its brickwork.
But the Grade II building is now transformed and has hosted events including the Liverpool Art Prize, Biennial, arts festival NICE and the launch of Brouhaha.
IT HAS a new website, contemporary urbancentre.org, and will host community pantomime Dick Whittington this Christmas.
