A WOMAN has died after being hit by a bus on Dale Street in Liverpool city centre.
The pedestrian, who is thought to be in her 20s or early 30s, was in collision with a single- decker number 8 city centre bus heading towards Liverpool town hall.
Police were called to the scene of the collision, which happened outside the Spar supermarket and close to a pedestrian crossing, at around 5.10pm last night.
Two ambulances, two fire engines and six police cars blocked off the road to traffic and police officers set up a wide cordon.
One shopkeeper in the area said: "I didn't see the accident but I came out and saw the young woman under the bus, close to the wheel. It's really upsetting that she has died."
Roads were closed for several hours on the side of Liverpool Magistrates Court on Cheapside to allow road traffic accident investigators to collate information. Dale Street reopened at 10pm last night.
Witnesses should call 0151 777 5771.
