ST GEORGE’S Hall is playing host to a multi- sensory food and drink exhibition this month, organised by Mencap Liverpool and the Access to Heritage Project.
Two menus, Banquet and Pudding, allow visitors to sit at a grand dinner table and discover what it was like to be at a 19th- century banquet, with scratch and sniff menus and cakes, and puddings to touch and smell, too.
"Diners" can also pick up wine glasses and hear the sounds from a 19th-century banquet scene.
The menu is based on an actual banquet held at St George’s Hall, Liverpool, in 1857.
The aim of the trail is to encourage people with learning disabilities to visit historic venues, by creating stories and interpretation through the mediums of sight, sound, smell and touch.
THE free exhibition runs each day from 10am to 4.30pm until the end of October.
