VEGETABLES grown by young offenders are being given to charities and victims of crime.
Knowsley’s Youth Offending Service’s allotment at Bowring Park is part of their work to change the behaviour of the people they help.
Surplus crop this year is being handed to the Cafe Society project in Stockbridge Village.
This helps people to cook well and with healthy ingredients, by bringing in professionals for them to work with. The food is then sold in the cafe.
Knowsley’s cabinet member for Children and Family Services, Cllr Graham Wright, said: “The allotments give these young people a chance to give something back.
“The things they grow help the wider community and Cafe Society is doing great, practical work to help people change what they eat.”
