Animal welfare record praised

CHESHIRE West and Chester Council has won a coveted animal welfare award for the way it deals with stray dogs.

The RSPCA's Community Animal Welfare Footprints (CAWF) scheme rewards and promotes good practice in animal welfare carried out by local authorities.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has been awarded silver for its stray dog services.

The award covers the policies and procedures that should ensure a stray dog’s welfare is protected from collection to reuniting with owners or finding a new home.

Community portfolio holder, Cllr Lynn Riley, said: “I congratulate our animal welfare service on this excellent achievement.

“It is reassuring for residents to know that we have an award- winning team at Cheshire West and Chester Council.” working so hard for the welfare of animals.”
