THE Merseycats are celebrating raising £300,000 over 20 years for Merseyside’s children charities by holding a special sell-out concert tonight.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll children’s charity was set up following the death of original Merseybeat member John Banks, aged 44.
His old band mates rallied round in 1989 to put on a reunion concert to pay for his funeral, and then decided to keep going.
They will take to the stage at the Adelphi hotel to celebrate the charity’s success.
