Referring to the recent reversal of library closures in Wirral, he called on the committee to “to ask the Labour/Liberal Democrat administration to show some more ‘decisive leadership’ and reverse its decision to close Ridgeway High school”.
The academies plan arose from the council’s ongoing review of schools in the face of falling pupil numbers.
Last night, Cllr Kelly said he believed the Conservatives were using the issue to create “political mischief” and insisted consultation was key to deciding the future of education.
