A MERSEYSIDE doctor has been named Psychiatrist of the Year.
The first annual Royal College of Psychiatrists Awards saw Dr David Fearnley, 40, pick up the prize.
The consultant works at Ashworth Hospital, in Maghull, where he has championed innovative ways of care, such as a therapeutic reading group for patients.
He also has a wider role as medical director and deputy chief executive of Mersey Care NHS Trust.
He said: “This award is also recognition of some of the pioneering work we are doing here in Merseyside.”
