Suzanne Moseley _300
A DATE has been set for a by-election following the tragic death of a Wirral councillor.
Moreton and Saughall Massie councillor Suzanne Moseley, who was 47, died suddenly on September 17.
An inquest was opened and adjourned, although initial findings were that her death was from natural causes.
The Conservatives have chosen their candidate to stand in the election – businessman and resident Steve Williams. If elected, he will join the ward’s two Tory councillors, Chris Blakeley and Simon Mountney.
Mr Williams said: “I first became involved in local politics when contacted by Suzanne and I hope whoever wins this by-election will be as dedicated as her in championing ward issues.”
Wirral Council confirmed yesterday a statutory request had been received to fill the vacancy in the Moreton West and Saughall Massie ward.
The official Notice of Election will be posted on October 22 and, should the election be contested, the poll will take place on November 26.
Information on standing as a candidate and the relevant papers are available from the elections office at Wallasey Town Hall.
