THERE is just one day left for people in Liverpool to have their say over whether the city should have its own directly elected mayor.
Campaigners for a London-style mayor are urging voters to support the idea in a city-wide consultation, including an online vote which ends tomorrow.
The Government is forcing Liverpool and other councils to consult residents on whether to ditch the present system, in which councillors choose a council leader, and replace it with an executive mayor chosen by voters across the city.
Liam Fogarty, chairman of amayorfor liverpool.org, said: “This is a chance to ‘re-boot’ local democracy in Liverpool.”
