A ROYAL Marines reserves unit was given the freedom of the city by Liverpool Council.
Royal Marines Reserves Merseyside, which has been stationed in Liverpool for the last 60 years, received the prize last night in recognition of the critical role it has played in Iraq and Afghanistan, and for its long-standing presence in the city.
Lord Mayor Mike Storey said: “I am delighted we officially honoured this wonderful unit.
“Their headquarters have become a landmark and it is great the city has acknowledged its commitment, dedication and skills.”
