Hillsborough memorial charity in Port Sunlight hits halfway mark

A CHARITY aiming to replace a Hillsborough memorial destroyed by vandals has passed its halfway mark.

The Portland stonework of the memorial garden in Port Sunlight Village will cost £26,500 to repair but £15,000 has already been raised.

Redrow Homes Ltd gave the appeal a massive boost with a £2,000 donation and staff at Asda Bromborough raised £750 with a bucket collection.

Port Sunlight Garden Centre will host a Halloween special on Saturday October 31 from 6pm to 9pm, with admission of £5 per child, for the cause.

It is hoped the money will be raised by Christmas, with work starting in the New Year and rededication by spring.
