A SOLD-OUT performance of The Caretaker was cancelled last night after its star Jonathan Pryce fell ill.
Tonight’s show at the Everyman has also been cancelled as a precaution, although it is not believed its 62-year-old star is seriously ill.
A spokeswoman for the Hope Street theatre said it was contacting all ticketholders for the performance to offer them tickets for another night.
Playwright Harold Pinter’s classic opened to rave reviews two weeks ago and is due to run until October 31.
It marks a return to the famous Liverpool theatre for Jonathan Pryce, who started his career at the Everyman in the early 1970s alongside names including Pete Postlethwaite, Julie Walters and Matthew Kelly.
He plays Davies, a mysterious tramp taken in to the home of two brothers played by Tom Brooke and Peter McDonald.
The play was originally produced in 1960.
