The Farm’s Peter Hooton signs copies of When Football Was Football in Liverpool

LIVERPOOL indie legend Peter Hooton yesterday signed copies of his new book about his second lifelong love – football.

The Farm lead singer is a passionate Liverpool FC fan.

His latest book, entitled When Football was Football, covers the club’s first century, from 1892 to 1992, including the team’s early years as the “Untouchables” and the arrival of Bill Shankly in 1959.

Hooton is a devoted Kop season ticket holder who created Liverpool fanzine The End.

He even wrote All Together Now about the British and German soldiers’ historic no-man’s land football game in 1914.

The singer signed copies of When Football was Football at Waterstones, in Bold Street. He was joined by author Simon Hughes, who signed copies of his new book, The Secret Diary of a Liverpool Scout.
