FORMER Lord Chancellor, Lord Charles Falconer, is to be the guest speaker at a fund raising event in Liverpool this week.
He is to speak at the Athenaeum Club on Friday, at a lunch organised by the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, and all proceeds will go towards the Liverpool-based charity.
Lord Falconer, who was a member of the Government from 1997 to 2007 as Dome Minister, Housing Minister, Criminal Justice Minister and Lord Chancellor, oversaw the far-reaching reform of the criminal justice system, including the creation of the newly-installed Supreme Court.
He will talk about the current political scene and answer questions from the audience.
Tickets for the event, which cost £40, are available from Helen Raghu.
