Men wanted for Strictly Adelphi tea dances

VISITORS to the Adelphi are putting on the glitz at the historic hotel’s new fortnightly tea dances.

The Lime Street landmark held its first Strictly Adelphi event yesterday, complete with live music, starched white tablecloths and candelabras.

Clare Bowles, who is organising the events in conjunction with the hotel, said: “We want to give it a Palm Court feel, and we hope if this is successful we could run evening dances with a big band.

“It’s just a bit of fun and enjoyment and if you’re not too sure of your dance steps we have a lady instructor who explains everything in a simple way.

“Now all we need is a few more men.”

Entrance to the afternoons is £5 including tea and a sticky bun.

The next tea dance will take place on November 9.
