Cheshire West and Chester Council offer bikes to unemployed

UNEMPLOYED people in Cheshire will be able to borrow a bicycle for free to help look for work.

The free bicycle for up to six months is being offered by Cheshire West and Chester Council to help those unemployed find employment or gain further training.

Funded by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) the Cycle Loan Scheme is part of the £700,000 “People and Jobs” project to assist residents to access jobs, as well as boosting health within the community.

The scheme was launched at Winsford JobCentre Plus to provide easy access where public transport is difficult.

Cllr Neil Ritchie, environment executive member, said: “I am sure the scheme will prove popular and help people find employment or further training.”
