Heavy rain and gales sweep across Merseyside
HEAVY rain and gales swept across the region yesterday bringing an end to the mild weather of recent days.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service last night said no serious weather-related incidents had been reported to them, but in Liverpool tourists described how police were called after a gazebo was lifted up and blown against a building.
The drama was watched by Norwich day-trippers Christine Gardner and Adrian Newson.
Christine said: "The police had closed the road off because this giant green gazebo was teetering four storeys above the ground.
“It fell down about 10 feet and eventually crashed to the ground. It's not something you expect to see.”
